St. Carlo Acutis Catholic School, formerly Seaton #1, is under construction at 2460 Hibiscus Drive. Planned for Kindergarten to Grade 8, it has a September 2027 target, not a guaranteed opening date. Answers before you leave the page

Your school questions, answered.

Does living beside a school mean my child will attend it?

No. Start with your exact address, board, grade and program. Capacity, registration timing and temporary placements can change the answer. A builder’s brochure or a map pin cannot confirm admission.

What is the difference between a growth boundary and overflow?

A growth boundary assigns new registrations from an identified area to a partner school. Overflow is used when the designated school cannot accommodate additional students. DDSB’s September notice says existing Josiah Henson pupils remain enrolled; ask the board how its current measures apply to a new registration.

What if our new home does not appear in the school locator?

Ask the builder for the municipal address and lot/plan details, then contact the board with your expected move-in date, grade and program. Keep its dated response and recheck before enrolment. You do not need to send a child’s personal documents to this website.

When will the new Seaton Catholic school open?

St. Carlo Acutis Catholic School, formerly Seaton #1, has a September 2027 target. The boundary implementation document also discusses a possible transition during the 2026–27 school year. These are planning statements, not a confirmed earlier opening. Confirm the latest date and interim placement directly with DCDSB before making arrangements.

Will my child get a school bus?

School placement and transportation eligibility are separate checks. Durham Student Transportation Services publishes board eligibility rules for DDSB and DCDSB; ask about your designated school, address, grade and any temporary placement. Do not estimate eligibility using straight-line distance on a map.

Are French immersion and French-language schools the same?

No. French immersion is a program within a school board; French-language education is provided by French-language boards. Confirm program location, admission requirements and transportation for your chosen pathway rather than assuming an English-program boundary applies.

Which public high school serves a Seaton home?

Use the DDSB locator for the exact address and secondary program, then confirm with the board. We do not assign one public high school to all of Seaton: a community-wide label would be less reliable than an address-specific answer.

Can you help us choose a home while we check schools?

Yes. We can help compare homes, floor plans, prices and moving timelines, and organize the school questions to verify. The school board makes placement and admission decisions. Start a home-search enquiry below; school information on this page is free to read.

Make the next step simple

Four checks for your shortlist.

  1. Identify the home

Use its exact municipal address; for an unbuilt home, obtain the lot and plan details too.

  2. Specify the school pathway

Tell the board the grade, program and expected enrolment date. Check admission requirements.

  3. Confirm placement and the journey

Ask about growth boundaries, overflow, interim schools, transportation and childcare separately.

  4. Keep a dated answer

Save the board’s response and recheck before enrolment, especially if closing or construction timing changes.
